Anyone who spends time on the water learns quickly that direction matters. Out on open water, landmarks disappear. The horizon looks the same in every direction. Without reliable navigation, it is easy to drift off course without realizing it.

Passing the Lesson Forward

The more we try to control people into conforming the way we want them to the more things can tend to not work out. I am a believer in servant leadership.
Teaching him how to find direction matters more than providing every answer. Learning to trust a compass, both literal and personal, builds independence and character.
That lesson applies whether he is on the water or walking through life.

Modern boats carry advanced electronics. Chart plotters, radar, and satellite navigation offer incredible capabilities. Still, the compass remains mounted at the helm.
